Bright Futures opened in 2010 in the Lehigh Valley. Owner Dorothea Dotter ran it with her daughter after winning the Woman of the Year Award from the National Association of Professional Women in 2010 and 2011. The school helps families provide the best in quality childcare. Children join group play and keep their own individuality.

Rooms are set up so children can reach what they need. Low shelves hold books and blocks. A table for small groups sits near the windows. Children move between quiet corners and busy play, and teachers stay close to help. Each room has its own rhythm, from a nap area for babies to tables for older children.

Walk in and you notice the noise first: children talking to each other, teachers down at their level. Teachers stay with their age group, so the person who greets your child on the first morning is the one who knows them at the end of the week. Caregivers work from each child's own routines for feeding, sleeping and play.

Mornings start with a hand-off at the door and a few words about the night before. A baby goes straight to a familiar caregiver and to their own feeding and sleeping pattern, not the group's. A toddler finds a spot at the table and settles in. Older children check in, put their things away, and join what is already going on.

Mornings give way to play and small-group learning. Children paint, build, sort, and listen to stories. Meals come next, then rest for younger children and quiet time for older ones. Outdoor play follows, weather permitting. The afternoon ends with free choice and a calm wind-down before pickup.

Afternoon is quieter. Younger children wake, eat and play until pickup. School-age children get supervised activities and homework help. At the door, a teacher tells you something your child did that day, and you can ask about naps, meals or how the morning went.
